End times?

As a Mom telling my kids about the end times seems so difficult, but completely needed. I will be teaching them about preparing their hearts for God, and that no date or time is ever known. We have the promise of Jesus and to cling to his teachings, we could try to understand signs and wonders, predict and stress but we are to wait in anticipation.
This is what we tell teens too. Keep your eye on the prize, the times are coming where things will be altogether scary, but we stand on the promise of Heaven.
Praying for all those who are seeing difficult roads, seeing the beginning birth pains of what's to come, God change hearts! And help us keep our eyes and hearts set on the things of Heaven.
Lots of Love,

Ready to Unplug

Thanks to our church who had honored my husband and I with a trip to San Francisco to defrag after an especially busy season in our life, we get to disconnect from the daily grind, cell phones, emails and FACEBOOK! And we get to enjoy God's creation, each other and some much needed peace.

The thing is this is not going to be the "Normal" in my life, at least LORD I pray it is not!

I feel all too often being OVER connected to the world is not in anyway healthy! Yes I Facebook practically everyday, and I tweet, text all that jazz, but yesterday I realized how often I really rely on it. My internet was down and then my phone wasn't being as smart as it claims to be (mind you it is/ I still think it's amazing phones have touch screens, when 16 years ago I was using a ROTARY HOME PHONE!) LOL So I could not check messages on Facebook or Twitter and I could not access the internet, and this stressed me out....WHY?? I should be glad to disconnect and enjoy some beauty around me once in awhile. The hard part recently has been most contacts I get for our ministry and life is through these means! So if I am not connected someone could very well need help (with For the Broken). This is where I have to realize I am not God, and I can't be every where for everyone at ALL times! I pray that when moments like this happen God intervenes on peoples lives who are in desperate need for help. I don't want to lose anyone in the cracks but I also have to be strong myself in order to help others in a healthy way.

So I think it's time to step away especially this weekend and enjoy my Husband, and when I come back home learn completely how to balance this in my life.

Another thing I want to talk about soon. Phone etiquette and what that looks like! Too many times I get frustrated when I see people blatantly use their phones while in a conversation with someone, it is sooo incredibly rude, there really should be classes taught on this subject!

Late night enthusiasm

So many times in my life I get divinely inspired to change my life in some new way. Recently I have changed my eating habits, and have lost 32lbs, but now I feel I must get my house organized and put together! In this thought there have been many times I have tried to organize my life, but mainly what will keep this going is TIME MANAGEMENT. I think my mind thinks this is a curse word. I have always been a spontaneous person, so planning is not my strong suit, though over the years that has changed a bit. So here is to another try at it, and I PRAY, PRAY, PRAY God will see me through and this will not just be a new habit but a new life for me. I WILL NOT beat myself up if I fail, but I will pick up the pieces and keep going where I left off.

Here are some pictures on what I hope to accomplish:

I love the bright colors but also I have very little space to really work with. I will have to post pictures of when I actually get this accomplished! Happy Organizing friends!

Out of the Darkness Walk

I am embarking on a walk to change lives in October. Most of you already know For the Broken (our ministry) is about helping those who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other hard hitting issues, as well as bring awareness about suicide and the prevention of it!
So when I heard about American Foundation of Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness walks I had to jump in and be a part of it!
Bobby and I are hopefully going to be able to walk together and would like to get a team together of those willing to walk, and supporters willing to help us along this journey. The money we raise goes to AFSP and their research efforts to help those who hurt, and prevent suicide. HELP US to HELP THEM, which in all will SAVE LIVES!
Share this information with anyone you know, and if you know someone who has commited suicide and would like to honor their memory, please let us know and we will be sure to write their names on our Official shirts we get from OUT of the DARKNESS.
Love and Prayers,
Shevonne D

Spiritual Warfare

Have you ever felt like the world was crashing down on you? Man I can tell you this last 6 mos has been pretty brutal as far as illness, and just feeling like I get up to be knocked right back down on my keyster (sp). I have been reminded that this is not a war of the flesh but over and over I am fighting the darkness; Fighting it from taking a hold of my hope, joy and from it stealing the promises spoken and revealed for my life.
I will continue to fight whole-heartily and will not let go of my hope!
Will it be easy? HECK NO! But am I willing to keep striving? HECK YES!!
Praying all of you who feel like enough is enough, will continue to pray and seek God, for he is the strength and endurance when we have no more Gatorade ;)

Lots of Love

Time just goes to quickly...

Mikayla and Eli 4 years ago

Today is Eli's 7th Birthday and it seems like just yesterday we were trying desperately to soothe him while he was teething, help him learn to walk, keeping him from running LOL, and trying to teach him what being a big brother is all about.
Now he is an AMAZING big brother and just so grown up it seems.
I have to say it is so much fun giving this boy gifts, if you every want to see enthusiasm give this boy a gift LOL, he will jump up and down sing and scream with joy. His joy and happiness warm my heart.
I am so blessed that God gave us Eli, the son we were told we would never have and the devil tried to rip from us, is now a healthy, happy, generous, God loving young man. I couldn't be more proud of my boy!

Life is hectic! But oh how I LOVE it!

This year has been marked with full schedules, sickness, and well life in between. I am very blessed to say I am now losing some weight and getting healthier thanks to a program and the sheer will and power of God! I am on Optifast which I have to say this program is the hardest thing I have done since I quit smoking 2 years ago. Giving up smoking is one thing, giving up eating is a WHOLE other thing in itself!! Yes I MISS FOOD!! I won't lie. But it is easy already knowing what I am going to be eating for the next 4 months! LOL All I can say is all this hardwork is paying off! I lost 16lbs in the first couple weeks and I am looking forward to being a lighter, leaner me! I have even been able to do workouts I have not done in 3 years!! 3 YEARS!! I am just so blessed I tell ya.
Next we have a LOT of ministry stuff coming up, this month Bobby and I are speaking twice once at Real Life Church of Galt to tell more about what we do at For the Broken, and then at Stadium Galt talking about Super Heroes and Sidekicks. Then on March 24th we are training some of our volunteers and leaders how to deal with Crisis/Suicide Prevention, and let's just say I REALLY love doing ministry with my husband. He is the smart charismatic one, and I am the out there go get em type! This should be interesting LOL.
Hoping you all have an amazing March and hopefully I will blog again before Easter (which will be coming quick.)
